2001

Born in Idaho on December 21, 2001.

The joy of our lives. We came home from the hospital just in time for Christmas Day. What a wonderful gift from heaven.

Paul got his memorial tatoo. He could not let another day pass without it.

In his passing, he gave the gift of life. It's nothing less than he would have wanted. To give of himself to save others. We donated his liver and kidney's to save the life of two other people. A 34 year old man received his kidney's and a 2 year old boy received his liver. We pray that these two wonderful recipients be blessed by the gift's Silas gave.

We had a beautiful funeral ceremony for him. Many wonderful people came. Family, friends, police, firefighter's, nurse's from the hospital. Everyone was just so wonderful to us. The firefighter's wife organized a dove release at the burial to signify Silas's spirit ascending into heaven with the angels. It was truly touching. Mckenna, Tytus(although Tytus was napping) and Timothy each had a basket to release a small flock of doves. And then the final dove was released by Paul and I. I think Silas would have wanted it that way...

A Special Thanks:

I just wanted to pay special tribute to our wonderful community here in the Treasure Valley of Idaho. From family, friends, neighbor's, police, firefighter's, Channel 6 news, the staff at St. Al's, the staff at Alsip's Funeral Home and especially the staff at St. Luke's PICU. The outpouring of compassion and care we received during this time of tragedy was absolutely phenominal. Words cannot describe how thankful we are to all of you.

His bench was set. It's the only way we could even imagine having his final resting place. It's beautiful.

Heaven Day Remembrance Ceremony

One year has passed and we needed some way to help keep his memory alive. Something to help us grieve and to show him how much he is loved and missed. I put together a 110 balloon release and we read a few poems we had written. We also passed out candy and small bottles of bubbles for the children. All planned before his siblings soccer games that day at the soccer field. It was beautiful. Small children were all running around enjoying some of Silas's favorite things. Balloons and Bubbles.
